Some conditions require a small sample of normal or abnormal oral tissue for microscopic examination. Oral biopsy is easily performed with local anesthesia, and usually results in a few stiches to promote healing. You will be given post-operative instructions to optimize your comfort and healing. Most oral biopsies heal in a few days with minimal discomfort that can be effectively releived with medication Dr. Sirois will review with you.

Your biopsy specimen will be reviewed by a qualified pathologist or laboratory. In consultation with Dr. Sirois, the results of your biopsy will be interpreted and fully explained to you.
